A Guided Walk along an estuary looking at maritime archaeology in the ancient landscape of Criccieth, Gwynedd, North Wales.
Join me, Heather Ibbetson, archaeologist, river and landscape nut, in an area of stunning scenery. For a fun morning of walking and talking and have a go at solving a maritime mystery. All that is required is curiosity, a couple of hours beside a stunning estuary in a stunning ancient landscape and a whole different landscape can reveal itself to you.
Afon Dwyfor: Estuary and Maritime History
The part of the river to be explored is the Estuary and its Maritime Archaeology. This guided walk complements the Woodlands Rivers Song. You do not have to have done that one to be able to enjoy this, it is perfectly able to delight by itself. The bird and sea life enroute is usually worth the walk! By walking upstream alongside the estuary, we will be investigating structures both in the river and on the riverbank. We will bit by bit piece together the story of this part of the river, how it was used and for what reason.
